JWRC Volunteer Poster Distribution

One of the most important tools in recovery missing people is a recent photo. Law enforcement and organizations like JWRC use photos to create and distribute flyers/posters of missing people in the hopes that others will recognize the missing person's picture and alert authorities.

JWRC is looking for volunteers in the community to receive missing person posters via e-mail and distribute them to the public.

 

How You Can Help

You can volunteer to receive posters in your e-mail from JWRC when people in Minnesota go missing.

This list does not include people missing outside MN, unless they are believed to be in or traveling through the state. To sign up to receive alerts when children go missing in other areas, visit ncmec.org.

Distribution List Policies

There are a couple things to understand before signing up to receive and distribute posters.

1. Participating in poster distribution does not include you as part of the official investigation for the missing person. Do not conduct unofficial ground searches without the assistance and permission of law enforcement, and do not pursue potential suspects of crime.

2. Once the missing person is found, you must remove and destroy all posters you have distributed and posted, so that others know to stop searching.

3. You are welcome to inform others via e-mail about the case. However, do not e-mail the actual image or poster files; send links only. When the missing person is recovered, the agency who created the poster will disable the link, making the poster inaccessible to the public so others discontinue the search.

4. Poster display and distribution is very important in missing persons cases, but it does not guarantee safe recovery of missing persons. You are not responsible for the outcome of the case, and should not blame yourself in the event that someone is not found, or found deceased.

5. You may remove yourself from the list at any time.

6. You will not be paid for displaying or distributing posters.
