17th Annual Trek reaches $117,273 in cumulative donations for JWRC
The Trekkers ventured off July 15, 2010 and returned July 24, 2010. They had a safe and fun journey!
In 2010, the trekkers raised $7,563.44. This money will be used to provide additional safety and educational materails and workshops in the community to prevent the the exploitation of children.
Since 1994, one of JWRC’s cofounders, Jerry Wetterling, has hosted an annual wilderness hiking Trek to raise funds for JWRC’s mission-based work. Following this year’s Trek, the group was proud to announce their cumulative total since 1994 had reached $117,273!
That means that more than 100,000 families have received JWRC’s educational materials made possible by the generosity and tenacity of the annual Trekkers.
This 9-day adventure is open to the public and usually has 10-15 adventurous Trekkers who enjoy backpacking and the breathtaking views and sunsets from the mountain peaks of Colorado. Though rugged in some respects, the camaraderie and food are usually the highlights. Both rookie and experienced hikers are welcome and must call to register in advance. Each Trekker pledges to raise a minimum of $300 in donations for JWRC, including fees for registration, food and transportation.
